Duke Medical System Hydraulic Fluid
Duke Health Systems to Provide Hydraulic Fluid Sample for Independent Testing
Duke
University Health Systems has agreed to produce
a sample of the hydraulic fluid to which patients at Duke Health Raleigh
Hospital and Durham Regional Hospital were exposed over a two-month period
at the end of 2004. In addition, HensonFuerst is in the process of obtaining
additional testing data that Duke has been privy to for some time. As soon
as the test data and samples are obtained, our law firm has arranged for
an independent testing laboratory to analyze the fluid. Once this testing
is completed, the results will be reviewed and interpreted by our own team
of toxicologists and other experts.
On June 27, 2005, Duke issued yet another patient
letter trying to explain
away a very serious medical mistake. After our independent analysis is
complete we will provide recommendations as to the clinical evaluations
that patients should consider having done by someone without ties to the
Duke University Health System. It is our mission to determine exactly what
patients were exposed to at Durham Regional Hospital and Duke Health Raleigh
Hospital. Everyone involved in this situation deserves an unbiased and
independent evaluation of these potentially toxic chemicals.
