Attorney Carma Henson spoke about nursing home patient rights at the North Carolina Bar Association's 14th Annual Elder Law Symposium on February 26. She discussed the legal issues surrounding and supporting the Nursing Home Patient Bill of Rights, including patient transfer and discharge rules.
She focuses the majority of her practice on nursing home abuse and neglect and personal injury cases. From her own personal experiences in dealing with relatives in nursing homes, she has extensive knowledge with the problems and frustrations families have in dealing with long-term care facilities. She devotes much of her professional time investigating and evaluating the quality of care given to nursing home residents.
