William Hoyle attended Davidson College (summer session 1961) and North Carolina Wesleyan College (1961-1962, Dean's List) and received his B.A. from UNC Chapel Hill in 1965, graduating in the top 8% of his class (Phi Alpha Theta, National History Honorary). He then received his J.D. from the UNC School of Law in 1968. While at law school, he was the recipient of the Personal Property Book Award, won Holderness Moot Court Competition, and served on Holderness Moot Court Bench.
After completing school, Mr. Hoyle worked at the law firms of Dill & Fountain in Rocky Mount, N.C. (1968-1971); Dill, Fountain & Hoyle in Rocky Mount, N.C. (1971-1975); Dill, Fountain, Hoyle & Pridgen in Rocky Mount, N.C. (1976-2001); and Hoyle & Stroud in Rocky Mount, N.C. (2001-2006).
Mr. Hoyle has tried personal injury cases with trials in the Superior Court and District Court; workers' compensation cases with hearings at all levels, including the Full Commission and the North Carolina Court of Appeals; Social Security Disability cases with hearings before Administrative Law Judges; and complex civil litigation with trials and appeals including contract disputes, corporate and business disputes, estate litigation, and others. He also has been involved in the representation of the Rocky Mount Zoning Board of Adjustment since 1974. He has appeared in approximately 17 appeals before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and has appeared several times before the North Carolina Supreme Court. Mr. Hoyle has also appeared before the North Carolina Agricultural Commission and the North Carolina Cemetery Commission.
Additionally, Mr. Hoyle has served as an arbitrator in numerous civil superior court cases. He holds an AV-rating from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
