BikeRaleigh Forum Provides Updates on Important Bicycle Safety Efforts

BikeRaleigh is an important community program that promotes cycling as a safe and convenient form of transportation. By advocating for safer road conditions, as well as bike safety, education, and injury prevention efforts, BikeRaleigh works to improve cycling conditions for everyone in Raleigh.

On Wednesday, 5/25 BikeRaleigh held their 2016 BikeRaleigh Forum. This public event allows BikeRaleigh to discuss important topics related to bicycle safety in and around the city with members of the Raleigh community.

Topics that were discussed at last night’s forum included Raleigh’s progress in being designated a Bicycle Friendly Community, as well as a report on the city’s updated Bicycle Plan. Raleigh’s new Bicycle Plan will involve many important bicycle safety initiatives, including the construction of 30 miles of neighborhood bikeways and 10 miles of separated bike lanes.

Attorney Thomas Henson Jr. attended last night’s BikeRaleigh Forum as a participant. As an avid cyclist and a proponent of bicycle safety, Thomas was excited to attend and learn all that BikeRaleigh is doing to improve safety for cyclists.

May is National Bike Month, which means it is the perfect time of year to get out and ride! Whether you are an experienced cyclist or simply looking to pick up a fun, healthy new hobby, always remember to ride safe. Visit the Henson Fuerst Ride Safe Bicycle Safety page for important safety information for cyclists.
