New Study Shows Citizens Exposed To Toxic Chemicals Through Products Used On A Daily Basis

September 26, 2013

While the companies that process foods and products Americans purchase have a responsibility to ensure items are safe for consumption, a recent report indicates these items may be exposing United States citizens to dangerous chemicals. The North Carolina Toxic Exposure Lawyers with HensonFuerst state the risky compounds under investigation have been linked to serious reproductive health issues.

An article from WRAL News states the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) found data showing citizens are exposed to dangerous chemicals primarily in the foods we eat and the products we buy. The study looked into the levels of Mercury found in fish and discovered levels of the element that can prove harmful to the fetuses of pregnant women. Mercury isn’t the only dangerous substance pregnant women are exposed to though.

Women and men both are exposed to bisphenol-A (BPA) through the plastic products we use on a daily basis and in canned products. While the chemical has been removed from children’s items due to concern of the chemical affecting development, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration contends its use is okay in other products.

Experts also showed that exposure to household pesticides in high levels can lead to prostate cancer and sterility in men.

HensonFuerst’s team of North Carolina Personal Injury Lawyers urge anyone who has been harmed by exposure to toxic chemicals to discuss their legal rights with a reputable attorney immediately.
