“No Need 2 Speed” Campaign Very Successful

Is it wrong to feel sad about a success?

The North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP) ran its “No Need 2 Speed” traffic campaign ran from November 15 to November 28, and it was a great success, sad to say. The higher the numbers, the worse it reflects on North Carolina drivers. And yes, the statistics are impressive.

According to the GHSP, a total of 78,229 traffic and criminal citations were issued statewide. Officers cited 26,870 motorist for speeding, and they apprehended 873 fugitives.

As a comparison, the spring campaign only had a total of 61,766 citations. That’s an increase of more than 26% from the spring campaign to the fall campaign. (What’s the hurry, folks?)

The most citations were issued for Wake County (with 7108 total traffic and criminal violations) and Mecklenburg County (with 6726 total violations).
